Overview
Union, an inegrated paltform for venues and their customers, aimed to lauch a rewards system that would entice consumer users of the union app to utilize it more frequently and return ot thier favorite venues more often. The objective was to create a fun an eciting identity for the rewards system, that also fit alongsiode Union's other offerings and services.

The Challenge
Union's existing reward system centered around specific promotions which allowed consuemrs to utilize the app for discuonts on specifically featured items. These items were set at the system. level by Union and venues did not have individual control over the rewards. From the prospective of a consumer app user there was no way for them to track their rewards, view or earn points towards future goals. This resulted in venues often discounting items to meet consumer expectation becuase in app experience was not clear about the limits of the existing system.
The Solution
Union’s existing rewards system was built around predefined promotions, enabling consumers to access discounts on specific featured items. However, these items were set at the system level by Union, leaving venues without the ability to customize their own rewards From a consumer’s perspective, there was no way to track rewards, view progress, or earn points toward future goals. This lack of transparency often led to venues discounting items to meet consumer expectations, as the in-app experience did not clearly communicate the limitations of the existing system.
The Result
The new system provided venues with unprecedented control over customer engagement, addressing longstanding requests while laying the foundation for future rewards offerings. Early testing showed a 20% increase in repeat visits as users progressed through the rewards tiers, actively earning and redeeming points, further strengthening customer loyalty.
VIP Status
To enhance engagement, the new system introduced both a standard rewards tier and an exclusive VIP tier, visually distinguished in gold. This tiered approach incentivized users to unlock rewards milestones, driving repeat visits as they aimed to achieve VIP status and maximize their benefits. By offering a clear progression path, the system fostered a deeper connection between venues and their customers, ultimately increasing loyalty and retention.
